Color Error For Italian Libyan Stamp

Michel 2018 catalog lists the two Italian-Libya stamp varieties issued in July 1921 as:

#24a 1C black/sepia
#24b 1C slate/brown

The value stated for either stamp is the same €2 each.

@barhata, wrong stamp. This is the 5 c.

The Sassone value for genuine unused is 8000 Euros. Scott value is $1900.

Was this stamp part of a collection, packet, box lot, ....?

Two different markets. Obviously Sassone is geared towards the European market generally and Scott the North American market. Catalog values can be alchemy anyway. You find the same deltas between Stanley Gibbons and Scott. What matters is what any given stamp has actually sold for at auction or in a retail setting. I will try and find some sales records for this stamp. There is one for sale right now on Hipstamp with an asking price of $2145:

I have found two auctions, each for a MNH block of four. Neither lot sold. The Raritan Stamp auction had opening of $1750 and an estimate of $3500 against a catalog value of $10,500 with no bidders. It is a very specialized item and that is why you must take catalog values with a grain of salt.

I found some singles offered on online platforms. They are offered from near to € 1,000 up to over € 2,000 mint. I was wondering whether these were the Juju's of philately or whether these were anywhere realistic. It appears they, certainly, are not the former.

Of course, the usual caveats apply and, unless you are an expert, you should never buy these without a certificate.

I do not know where you are based. If you are located in the USA, keep in mind that if you want to reach the Italian market, the usual American expertising organisations, likely, will not be accepted by Italian collectors.
