Hi,

I recently purchased a sheet of #5019 stamps. As usual, I used short UV to check for authenticity.

I placed another #5019 I had before on top of the new sheet for comparison.

For this, can I reliably determine the stamp sheet I just bought is fake? The seller, who has no negative feedback regarding counterfeit stamps, claimed they purchased it directly from USPS.

This stamp is from 2015, which was nine years ago. Do you know when the first counterfeit stamp appeared in the US market?

Thank you

  • Counterfeits have been in production across multiple centuries.

  • I have seen counterfeits of the current counterfeiting trend beginning in the mid-4400's Scott numbers.

  • Counterfeiters are producing both old and new stamp designs.

  • Counterfeiters of government documents (stamps) would have no second-thoughts about making false statements to customers.

  • Criminals accumulate great reviews because their customers are victims (without knowing they are victims).

  • Criminals can create as many different sales accounts as they want, dumping the "caught" accounts without regret.

  • Criminals sometimes hack legitimate accounts taking them over for illegal sales purposes.

  • If it's too good to be true, assume it's bad news.

  • If a criminals are willing to do all of the above, do you want to risk giving them your personal identify and financial information?

  • Never purchase discounted postage online. Your money is only feeding the fire.

Thank you for the answers from all of you. Lesson learned.

Could you advise me on how to report this and potentially get the money back?

You can request a refund through eBay, but there may be a time limit.
