Don't know if this applies in other countries, but ebay uk is removing transaction fees for private sellers on most sales

About time! I haven't bothered too much trying to sell on EBay lately, doesn't seem worth the trouble. Might give it another try now.
Regards

Well, it could have happened a couple of weeks ago, before I started the process of clearing my post-WWI cigarette cards!

Being retired, I quite like "the trouble" - it's another gentle leisure interest.

It's been this way in Germany for over a year and now they're extending it to the UK. No plans (that we know of) for this to make it's way to the USA.

Do you have to live in a given country in order to use their eBay website for sales?

You'd have to pay your taxes and retrieve that tea from the harbour, Shermae.

Puts sellers outside the UK & Germany at a disadvantage.

So how are they making up the lost revenue? Raising store fees?

It's weird though- I rarely see lots listed from German sellers. Perhaps because I am not specialized Germany collector. I see way more lots listed from the UK and Netherlands, at least up until now.

@shermae, PostmasterGS has posted frequently about problems with mail between Germany and the USA. If German sellers exclude the USA from the countries they will despatch orders to, it would not be so weird. You might look at the .co.uk or .de sites to see what German sellers have to offer. It will not resolve the issue with despatching to the USA.

This news definitely reach me too late. I quit eBay years ago. I miss getting an item from time to time, but the trade-off is good.

ebay uk is also ending the practice of automatically sending funds to sellers' bank accounts. It will now be for the seller to remove or leave in place, as happened with the ebay/Paypal arrangement that used to operate.
