This thread is for members to share any nice flaws (catalogued or not) that they find on stamps from the colony / Australian state of Victoria. Fiscally used examples are fine - the flaw on the design is the interesting part.

Going through some stamp duties tonight, I found a decent flaw on the lower right value frame of this 10 shillings Victoria stamp duty used in 1885. The normal version is shown at right.

How about an element used to print both Victorian and Australian stamps?

The value (or duty) plate used on the 1d and 2d Victorian postage dues was the actual plate used for the die 1 versions of the 1d and 2d (SG D64 and D65 respectively) in the 1909 bi-colour Australian postage dues.

I recently acquired this left pane of the Australian 1d die 1 value. If you look at the right column, column 6, it shows a scratch from the top stamp to the bottom. You can find this flaw in the last printings of the Victorian 1d on crown over double-lined A paper.

Thanks 64idgaf.

Do you have any copies of the Victorian examples with scratches to show?

Large missing parts of the outer frame are often seen on some of the earlier issues from Victoria but rarely on that halfpenny - thanks airgem!

Thanks also to dynamode - that 'gate' frame flaw next to the break in the value circle is very interesting

SG114c or 158. Kiss/double print.

Fairdinkum. I have been away from my stamps for a long time. I am working from 10-15 year old scans and SG numbers. I do not have access to my stamps for a few more months yet, so cannot do any fine checking for a while. I have about 25 stamps to add to this thread. Enjoy.
