And the number of people in the U.S. who would seriously be interested in the British Guyana stamp or the Blue Mauritius Post Office stamp would be correspondingly small too.

That page of grills is certainly the ultimate fantasy for a grill collector like me. I made my page without spaces for 80,81,82, 85A,D or F so I wouldn't have permanent blanks in my collection. I'm quite sure that isn't going to change after this auction.

The auction listing is up on the Siegel site now. I was going to click "watch" on items I might want - but then I remembered that I wanted all of them.

Just on the face of it, it seems like the 24c Continental (164), being unique, should command a higher estimate / realization. At least relative to the 1c Z-grill, which isn't even unique; strictly speaking, although its the only one available to collectors of course.

That was my strongest reaction too. I suspect it will go a lot higher.

Did anybody receive the printed catalog for the auction? I think they sent an email saying it would be sent out in late May. I have not but it's been a couple of years since my last Siegel purchase, maybe long enough to get removed from their list.

Was surprised by the balance lots - not the greatest centering, etc. throughout the lower priced ones...

Did they send out the catalog for free or did you have to buy one?

This sale should have gone differently. There should not be such a huge balance lot. Break it up into affordable chunks so that everyone can own a piece of history.

I believe the catalog went free to people who buy from Siegel, but not sure of the cutoff.

Looking through the "top 100", seems to me like the barrel was being scraped a bit to get to 100 lots. Would have been a true "Top" sale with, say 75 lots.

Anybody else attending "in person"? Drinks start at 5:30.
