Nice work John.

For my bulk, I sort into value tablet first
(can only be max 100 piles :)
Bag them then sort 1 value at a time into year bags.

I have found this to be the most time efficient method of sorting
over 5000> stamps.

If you have your stamps in year sets even haphazardly
stockbooked, it is easy to form catalogue sequenced issues.

spock, mint stamps are just not good for one's health. It has been proven. You must get rid of them all and you will feel much better. I could even look after them for a few year here. Less humid here most of the time. It doesn't matter if they stick together, I will just mail them to myself to get them cancelled so they are not a total loss.

Phil, perhaps the TV guys could do a sequel here.

Phil, stop it with the bugs. I hate's em, I do.

I had a flashback to Raiders of the Lost Ark #2 movie where he was in India and she had all those bugs and centipedes crawling all over. Gads. I almost left the theatre. Oh boy. Good thing I haven't had any caffeine tonight or I would be jumping around now.

spock, an idea, perhaps I could do a series of Canada Picture Postage stamps on India's bugs, or you could. Just put Coats of Arms and coins and stamps for the bugs to crawl over and you have a hit. And a complete set, with the high value (simulated) only printed half of so the price will just skyrocket. I mean really, think about it. I like it.

Sorry KGV, off topic, and don't be showing me any Australia bug stamps either, I tell you. I know there are some big fellows down under. Good place for them.

Philb: I would very much like to be a part of the film crew to view your horde of stamps. I am still very new on SCF but I get the impression you're into stamping in a big way & know what we are doing here back to front & inside out. I personally like to buy bulk & on the budget I am on KGVs & Aust., Dec., have been very kind to me at auction. Maybe in a couple of years I might broaden my stamping interest into bulk world buys. The best part of stamping is there are just so many stamps to collect. Always a new mountain to climb. Happy stamping. John & family.

Hello John, I confess I still have to fight the urge when I see a stack of stamps..but the reality is..i have to make room and keep my collections and cataloged traders and somehow move out the rest..i keep saying "stamps are easy to buy..but not that easy to sell" the folks at our stamp club are spoiled..where members will bring in good stamps they no longer need and ask say a dollar for a couple of good stockcards of stamps !!

The new system we introduced with our sorting Aust Dec stamps about 2 weeks ago is going from strength to strength! My wife is the main sorter of the kilo ware fresh out of the large plastic tubs. What my wife was sorting a week ago I could just keep up with. My job is to finish off the stamping process by laying to rest the stamps into stock books and the plastic bag based cataloging system for stamps ready for packet making! But now my wife is very used to this new system and her productivity has increased 3 fold. My part of it all is mounting up and I have not been able to match the incredible speed that she works at now, so I have been cramming the stamps all face up into small plastic containers and putting a lid on them and replacing them with a fresh containers to make my job easier and to keep things rolling. The plastic containers cost about 50c each and are worth every cent. Now when I sort a denomination I have 3 containers full to deal with. I really do not mind as it speeds up my over all work load but my wife is going to finish 3 months before I do. We still have a very good attitude towards it all and have been at it about 3 and a half months now. The large plastic tubs tell us we are about half way and have at lest another 2 months to go but my part looks like 5 more months. No KGV penny reds for me this stamping season. All I can say is happy stamping! Keep smiling!
