Hi Louise
Using talc on stamps became an issue I needed to sort through.
Two very important things happen concerning the use of talc on stamps to me.
1st it is the best thing for the new Aus $1 self adhesive security die cuts stamps that have a very short shelf life because of the buyers needs. Using un-do & talc gives us 100% no lost of these stamps as they give us a return of 75c per stamp.
2nd It took me a month but I cleaned out a small double bedroom that had plastic tubs and boxes stacked to the top of window height.Had to dig a walking track into it all 1st. The room was totally full. Found many things and all is reorganised now.
But I found a bunch of Tonga stamps & some Aus as well that I used talc on over a decade ago because I got the stamps off paper but not the gum. The talc stopped them sticking. The sad part is they had turned greasy & I can not wash the talc off. They were sitting covered in the talc. For long term use of talc on stamps I personally would have nothing to do with it.It seems to soak into the stamp.
Have the opinion that the quality hings of today are very user friendly for taking them off & back on stamps. They cause no damaged to stamps. Rod222 is right into hings and his advice on hinges I would be seeking. He even sells them I believe.
When doing something new to stamps I always try it on stamps that are damaged and of no use to me. Have learnt a lot by doing this and saved many expensive stamps as a result. And I can see that you do this!
Hope I have been helpful.
Always Happy Stamping. John |

Our postie delivered 48kg of kiloware on paper today. The invoice is high.....It has been a long time since I have received a lot this large in one go.
Got some unusual kiloware this time. The best part of it is fresh looking 35kg of 70c to 50c. Never before have I ever received a 1kg of high value mostly very recent with some very nice interpost.
The usual 5kg new $1 issues our bread & butter. 5kg concession & Christmas with 2kg world.
Truly will enjoy every bit of the sorting. That is roughly 225,000 stamps. |

We have 2 eBay stores with listings over the hardest to sell time of year. We have had some very good buyer come our way.
Selling in 5 different areas has had some interesting results.
Mon Aus International Post self adhesives. Our best seller.
Tue Aus Personalised stamps. Slow seller.
Wed Aus Set & Singles from end 2015 to now. Slow but promising.
Thur Aus International Post sheet stamps. Slow seller.
Fri Aus High Denominations from 2000 to now. Good sales.
This week have been relisting the sold stamps now that it is all up and running. The hardest part is done! |

Lots of changes to eBay. So I can change too!
Have a 6m x 5m(19' x 16') room built out of brick. Totally scrubbed out with clorine that is going to have the floor tiled this week. It has 2 large windows on 2 walls and a double sliding door on another wall. And a normal type door into our house on the 4th wall.
New tiled floor with 13m(41') of blue gum slab shelving that has heaps of plastic tub storage underneath and 4m(13') of desk top also in blue gum slab. The desk has 1.5m (5')of glass outlook.
Will be moving in next week. Heaps of room for my stamps & plants.
Next is the tough one. The on line plant web store. Scored a huge wholesale contact for my airplants. Looking good!Looking forward to less competition with my plant sales.
So it comes to me that I will be less reliant to how eBay works in my life. That feels real good! |

So now the eBay changes are made and the routine is in place and things look great again.
Nice to play around with auction listings again. Can now remember when this was the eBay norm in the past before they changed everyone to BIN listings.
Now eBay changed it back to auction again. Hard to keep up with really. Just so much a creature that does not like change! |

Hi Louise Sorry I missed your question. Let me know the result with your hinges & talc please. There seems to be no issue with the talc unless it is left as a thick coat on the back of the stamp. All the thick coated stamps from many years ago felt greasy and the talc was firmly stuck to the back of the stamp. All the stamps with no sign left of the talc were looking good. Quote: I am going to place some talcum powder in an envelope of new Prinz mounts and shake it up and mount some damaged stamps and wait about 24 hours and see how they peel off. I am serious as I read that the Dennison's added some talc to their gum. Any opinion of this? |

Been asked by our tax agent to give a overview to why we should still have an ABN. After some thought I have decidered to post it here. It really does sum up a business that is based on very recent kiloware. It also talks about how we are going to get over the stamp situation we find ourselves in! Very sad really!
Brief Business Stamp Over View as from 4/2019 Our supply base is contracting to the point that this part of our business is ready to totally fail. There is no other way to get supply as the other possibilities have already failed to the point of not trading. The outlook is very poor. The 19/20 tax year will give us a clearer view of when the end of this part of our business will take place.
Brief Business Plant Growing Over View as from 4/2019. The rare plant growing business is in a strong growth situation as more experience is found into growing certain plants successfully despite some heavy losses as not all researched plant trial growing decisions are working out. As would be expected because of the plant types we are trialing. We are still in a strong position over all and we expect to start selling boldly come Oct/Nov 2019.
It looks like this thread is coming to an end!

The bush house where my plants live.It is the 1st one. In the work room only packaging, storing fert etc but the plants are outside in Tillandsia House. New bush house with about 400% more room than the 1st one. An area in between the two bush houses that has a roof on it but nothing else at present. Could not cut down the stringy bark gum trees so they apart of this extra bush house area. |

Since the end of April incoming kiloware has been surprisingly strong. With another kiloware incoming contact.
My postie is getting a bit negative towards the 22kg parcels that are arriving in numbers. But not very much recent $1 issue.
Am so extended with stock at present. It is all paid for but in 2 months have received so much kiloware and sold a lot of it but still have 95kg 70c down including concession Christmas & $1 florals not sorted plus 30kg of 80's to early 90's. 35 to 40kg of world not sold as yet.Have sold 25kg of world. 4kg left of $1 issues that I am at presently sorting. Have a solid sorted into denom's 40kg of 70c 65c 60c 55c 50c 45c with my buyer asking for me to wait for 3 weeks which is OK. Plus my selling $1 kiloware with some 70c on top which is nicely over 25kg. Am looking at my $1 sheet stamp issues ready to go to be listed and thinking I can do better by sorting 60c stamps than to list the $1 sets.Nice place to be though! |

Am slowly moving into my new workroom office. Still have 27 plastic tubs to fit in somewhere. All my computers and bits that fit are still elsewhere.
Moving in slowly gives me a chance to remember what is where. Get it into a working friendly condition is paramount.
