That's the day to day life of stamp collecting.

EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, is "picked over" before resale.
The nature of the beast.

I buy Album Pages from my dealer, gaps with hinge remnants abound,
you know immediately these are the high values.

I pay "mid range" so my pages have the occasional scarcity,
and reasonable quality stamps.

The better pages I cannot afford, the really expensive heavy weights are removed from the pages and sold as singletons, or groups of 2 or 3

It is the "price filter" in descending order of the hobby.

So got a break through with Australia very recent kiloware. Straight from charity with all clean skins removed. It comes in a mixture of $1 & $1.10 stamps on paper. It costs a fair bit. Knew at auction the other week the reason the cost was so high with very recent kiloware was because of it containing clean skins and so it was some years ago I lasst tried to kiloware at auction. So using this information have looked for a contact that takes the clean skins out and wolarrr..... Now have kiloware. This kiloware is only picked for clean skins. Can talk to the kiloware collecting people from different states.

The cost of buying $1 & $1.10 sheet stamps has become so expensive it is cheaper to mail your own sheet stamps to yourself.

KGV Collector, do you have some feel for how much have decent cancellations, however you want to figure it? Until fairly recently, it's been disappointingly pretty low for US stamps.

Thanks for the question hy-brasil.

To get fine used grade stamps per kg... is at !0% FU would be difficult to find. Around 5% sits better with me. Damaged security slits is also an issue. There are extremely small amounts of quarter traditional corner cancels found.

With this thread & others my direction has become clearer with my involvement to do with very current Australia $1 & $1.10 issues. .
It is my choice with these stamps to sell all S/As on paper as some sort of bulk only. There is no plans to sell $1 & $1.10 S/A off paper. Will only sell gummed/ sheet stamps in sets off paper.

Have pieced together another recent kiloware contact but everything is so unstable these days concerning recent kiloware. For sheet stamps have found mailing new releases to myself is the cheapest way to get these stamps. Am only able to collect 50 x sheet stamps every Australia issue.

Thanks for the help in finding ways to go forward in stamping. John

This is typical eBay lot from this regular seller of $1.10 Aus sheet stamps on paper. Find their lots have 50% good stamps, many incomplete sets, many perf damage stamps. So it is $175 for 241 stamps. This cost is why I mail these stamps to myself 50 sets at a time.

hello
i have tried few times to buy kiloware of stamps via internet.
Nevertheless you can get some good surprises in flee market (don't know if it's everywhere in the world), and also I found also some kiloware stamps via some international exhibitions like the one in Prague in September.
My point of view is that if I could choose I will prefer to buy stamps that I can see and touch and not via internet

Great to hear you enjoy your kiloware.

It is so nice to be able to handle your kiloware before buying it.

What countries are coming your way with kiloware buys?

Do you have places you can keep going back to, so to purchase more kiloware from them are they close enough?

How are you storing your stamps to keep for your collection?

Any plans to sell your good stamps you do not need for your collection?

Good to meet you. kg5

Interesting to see Japan mentioned earlier in the thread as I'm seeing a number of eBay listings for modern Japan kiloware and little for most other countries. I guess they still use a lot of real postage stamps there?

I see they've also been releasing an absolutely huge number of new stamps in recent years. Case in point: there's a 2020 MNH year set for sale. 691 stamps. $960. Just… wow. At that rate just a few years will have thousands of different stamps.

Good to hear from you Callon.

That is an expensive year book at $960. Yes 691 stamps is a huge amount of issues released.

I too love my kiloware especially stamps on paper lots.

Japan looks a very interesting country for kiloware.

Now understand Japan kiloware better thanks to you.

Happy stamping. kg5

I personally feel kilowware is a waste. its better to exchange / trade or buy on eBay.
much better returns. although it is a lot of work.

German kiloware is also cheap and plentiful

Indeed. There's a dealer on eBay that sells 5000 stamp packages, big percentage of Germany and a lot of duplicates though, for EUR 16 plus (for me, contrary to European buyers) EUR 7 shipment.
