if this set of stamps "disappear ", other than all of us who read the explanation above as to what they really are . I believe most dealers and collectors will view them as some kind of home made computer overprint so you will find them most likely listed as forgeries or in the Cinderella sections on the internet .

There was a brand new (Feb 2022) BPP cert with them, so if the package makes it to a dealer or collector intact, there's little chance of mistaking them for a forgery.

My overseas involvement started during the depth of the COVID pandemic, staffing was short, transit time long. I have had similar lengthy delay at NY ISC, but the items eventually showed up. USPS tracking generally not helpful. I have noticed an improvement in transit times in the last 90 days
I have found that the larger auction houses, at least, will ship DHL Parcel or FedEx (I too experienced the DHL Packet/USPS move) if asked at the point that they send the invoice and you pay them. Sometimes this costs money which they add to the bill, but am glad to pay it if I have gone to the trouble of bidding in an auction.

I recall my own frustration when lots appeared to be lost. I know how helpless one feels when there appears to be neither accountability nor a means to inquire. I wish you good luck in this.

An update -- this lot never arrived.

However, they've now managed to lose another one. A postcard worth about $5,000. This is getting really old. More irreplaceable philatelic history lost to USPS incompetence.

My offer remains open Postmaster,
All my mail to SCF members in US and Canada getting through OK

There seems to be perhaps something in / on the packaging that alerts these
ne'er-do-wells,
Perhaps try to me with a low value item first.

Hope they arrive later as a surprise!

Just sent a package to Eli in Israel
my Postmistress suggested mail was not being processed to Israel
but she wasn't sure.
No returns as yet.

Look who decided to make an appearance today.

Luckily, the auctionhouse was slow in issuing a refund, so all's well that ends well without any additional effort.

The tracking record's a keeper, though:

I filed a missing mail request back on 21 June, but the USPS hadn't even started searching yet. Guess it just took forever in Customs.

Congratulations, indeed!! An absolutely beautiful set.
I, too, would have given up on delivery after 3+ months.
This year marks the first time in a dozen years that an item I purchased has been lost in the U.S. mail. There have been numerous slow deliveries over the past couple of years, but thus far all but one has eventually landed. My very small loss was refunded by the seller and was of no significance anyway.

Great news Postmaster! That tracking should be mandatory reading in logistics courses to show how not to move something efficiently.

Now when will the $5K postcard arrive?

Quote:
I recently had a parcel from Germany via DHL languish in Customs for over 5 weeks before finally making its exit

Seems the clearing process is now up to 9 weeks.

It really seems to be random. I had 5-6 lots reach customs after this one and clear in a couple days. The missing postcard has now been there about 6 weeks.

And now the postcard arrived. It was in customs for about 6 weeks.

For more on why this postcard is rare, see this thread.
