Hi, I like this guy for off paper mixes: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234379910779Free shipping in the US, a couple of thousand stamps, usually mostly postally used/mint with a scattering of CTO issues--I've bought this lot a number of times for when I wanted to sort through a bunch of stamps, had a few days off, etc. It was a great way for me to look at stamps from a bunch of countries and it helped me decide what to collect. He sometimes has mint mixes as well, and if you buy 2 mixes he throws in $50 SCV stamps--mine was Isle of Man (I think) which I don't collect but good for trading. Considering that $20 these days gets you a coffee at Starbucks and a breakfast sandwich for 2, I wouldn't sweat the purchase. I also consider postage the cost of doing business. Jackie |

Thanks, Jackie for the link! It looks like a great bang for your buck! I definitely need to find more sellers like that for next time. The seller I'm dealing with now is not very helpful or friendly (not that he's been directly negative). Well, like everyone seems to be saying, "live and learn"! I'll do better next time I hope. |

I think that you got a fair deal. Could have been cheaper, but not by much. In my youth I collected a great number of Hungary stamps and probably paid way more than you did for that you got. Bulk lots are also a ton of fun to sort through, in my opinion. |

Well, that's good to hear anyway. I like Hungary stamps so I thought just getting a bunch and hoping for the best was better than paying for individual stamps. |

There are always situations where you could have spent less. You now have some tangible stamps and could enjoy some leisure time.
I recently purchased a collection off ebay and figured I was paying too much when I bid. But, for less than a price of a dinner and movie for two, I got a lot of education and entertainment and more to show for the money spent. It is all relative.

LadyGrace - Given the price of everything now that is NOT fun I think that you did well. |

I do love the Hungarian stuff myself and I think those covers are brilliant. Well worth $20 in my book. |

I'm curious to hear from LadyGrace if she still feels this may have been a dumb purchase a week after the fact. It's a nice collection, and as others have said there are ways to spend a few dollars that the return doesn't last nearly as long as filling some holes in a collection.

I don't actually have it yet. Should arrive next week. Once I get it I'll definitely update and share how I feel about the purchase! |

You paid about a penny per stamp, not a bad deal. Just consider it this way, 20 bucks is an entree, tax and tip at any chain restaurant, so instead you got 1750 stamps for your collection that you'll have forever. |

Maybe it wasn't a smoking hot deal, but I sure wouldn't call it a dumb purchase. Looks like a lot of content from the last 50 years, which I would have been happy getting.
