Just tossing in my 2 cents. Looking through my Belgium pages it appears that I have several precancels. And it looks like a couple of precancels with perfins.

The railway parcels stamp is a standard cancellation, rather than a pre-cancellation, which would include only the year, rather than a specific date.

The France Timbres site contains links to pre-printed pages for these Belgian issues. It can be rather awkward, however.

So, this stamp isn't a precancel?

And no luck finding the pre-printed pages.

Under Albums d'Europe, go to Autres Pays d'Europe, then select from the drop down menu. My recent experience is that, following a site revamp, it can be clunky getting where you want to be!

Some interesting posts in here lately.

I am in the process of getting all of my railway cancellations together so that I can get them together in an album alphabetically. I also have an old large map with the Belgian railways listed on them in the hope that I can get the railway runs correct (?)

Time will tell

Just sorted through my Belgian pages and pulled out what I think are precancels. Here's a rough scan, first row are perfins.
Last row I don't think is a precancel.

Anyone know the year that the precancels started? Steiner does include some local precancel pages, but they don't seem to go back far enough.

Thanks Rod. Steiner pages go from (I think) 1906 to 1914 then pick up again in 1922. I have a handful with 1899, 1901, and 1921 dates.

Nicholas.
Steiner has 2 Files
Belgium Precancels General (Start 1909)
Belgium Precancels Local (Start 1909)

The latter has boxed departments for the tabbed "dont deliver on Sundays" (see the last pages)

One can adapt these for the earlier roller
or make up simple pages with boxes for the early Opts

The "Officiele Catalogus" 1987 for Belgium, starts their precancels at 1906

I am not the full bottle on these fellows, I just adapt as precancels come across my desk.

Hope that helps
