I have circa 1,920 numbers in my database. Ref. H.M. Campbell: Australian Numeral Cancellations: A compendium
I can look up for you, Cannot supply, I do not wish to offend copyright, if there be one.
No rarity evaluation is supplied.

103 OPHIR reallocated to MANLY 182 NEWTOWN 290 MICHELAGO 1497 BELLAMBI
What's in a name? Ophir is the place where gold was first discovered in New South Wales in 1851
Ophir is a port or region mentioned in the Bible, famous for its wealth. King Solomon received a cargo of gold, silver, sandalwood, pearls, ivory, apes, and peacocks from Ophir every three years.

Thank you. I appreciate your effort for me. May I ask you again in future if I run across any other Australian state(?) numeral cancels? Thanks, too, for the Ophir name info. I, too, am fascinated by places' names. One of my favorites in the world is a town in Newfoundland called Seldom Come By. I should explain why I was asking about the cancels. I collect stamps from every worldwide stamp-issuing entity on which I can identify the place of cancel. Your info brings my NSW up to 61. For Australia as a whole at the moment I have 1,867. |

Edmund, I've asked you before whether you were into numeral cancels or not, but don't think you ever replied. Anyway, seems the answer is "yes!" And that's cool I love them. Are you interested in the French numerals as well? |

Yes, I'm willing to use a numeral cancel or a postcode/zipcode for an identifier as a space filler until I get that Holy Grail of a complete and completely readable name of the place. My decisions about what qualifies for my collection tend to be inclusive rather than exclusive. Guess I just want THE ACTION! It's why I gave up collecting dates in postmarks. Got to the point where I was looking at many hundreds of stamps just to find one new date. With places I get some new ones every day. ACTION! |

Edmund. May I suggest you start collect CDS and numeral postmarks separately, collecting both a CDS and a numeral cancel for each place. Nothing wrong with that, you don't necessarily need to select one or another. ,Then you would really do like you say you do, then you would really be inclusive - and you'd get more action as well In my mind the numeral cancels are not spacefiller at any rate, if anything the CDS would be the spacefiller until a good-old numeral cancel comes around! I simply find the classic numeral postmarks more attractive because the general usage of stamps were much less back then before they started using CDS postmarks, hence they are scarcer and harder to find. And I think it is something very 'manly' or may I say 'real-thing' about these first numeral cancels. Unfortunately they might be quite hard on the appearance of the stamps themselves at times, but when a numeral is nicely struck I find them much 'in resist able'.... Each to each own. |

Quote: May I ask you again in future if I run across any other Australian state(?) numeral cancels? Certainly. (But not all numeral cancels) I have Western Australia complete Queensland : there is a exceptional database online NSW list of 1290 or so Victoria : The most explicit listings until the letter "K" I believe, after that unknown Tasmania: Only a small listing of yet to be seen postmarks. |

Rod, cool place names!
Do you have those lists of numeral postmarks in digital formats you can share? Or links to online resources? |

Rod222, thank you for your assent to possible future inquiries from me about numeral cancels. And I second Blaamand's query about sources on the internet. AND...thank you, thank you for your post above listing various numeral cancels from places with unusual names. I glory in finding such place names, the weirder the better!
