I picked up a nice check recently with a great vignette of an Indian buffalo hunt. This one was engraved by the Western Bank Note Co. I haven't seen many checks featuring Native Americans, but they do show up frequently on stocks and bonds. This seems like a good theme for a thread -- what can you add?

I also found this among my National Bank stock certificates, from Uncas NB in Norwich, CT.

Seems like a good time to bump this topic. Here's a specimen stock of the famous Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe RR featuring an Indian chief. This was no doubt related to their transcontinental line, the Super Chief.

An aside on the Uncas NB of Norwich is that it issued currency from the 1860s to the mid-1920s. The bank didn't issue any in small size even though it could have.

Here's an early $2 issued by the bank http://currency.ha.com/itm/national...ption-071515

Here's a Series 1902 $5, which is the last series of large size currency http://currency.ha.com/itm/national...ption-071515

Not sure if this information interests you, but I thought I'd share. -MV

The posts on this lonely little sub-forum seem to be few and far between, which is too bad since it's a favorite area of mine. To freshen things up, here are several more Native American stocks and bonds from my railroad collection. If anyone's still out there, post a thumbs-up, so I know I'm not wasting my time on this thread.

I think it`s cool, though I`m more interested in currency (if not stamps.)

Ah, souvenir cards! Didn't think to include them in this thread but they are more than welcome. I'll add one more before retiring to bed.

KGB, can you tell me which piece of currency this war chief appeared on?

Guess it's time to give this thread a bump. Here's a nice mining stock I found in a dollar pile recently.

Wow, I just went to post pictures, and I can no longer use photo bucket. Dang, it used to be so easy, now I have to relearn how to resize my photos all over again.
