Michael Smith: Nobel Laureate
October 4, 2004
Michael Smith (1932 - 2000) was a Canadian biochemist. He won the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work in developing site-directed mutagenesis. He engaged in molecular genetics and genome sequencing research in the 80s and 90s.

The 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded jointly to Dr. Tomas Lindahl, Dr. Paul Modrich, and Dr. Aziz Sancar for mechanistic studies of DNA repair.
Dr. Aziz Sancar is a Turkish-American biochemist and molecular biologist. He is currently at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC.
