I really like classical music, and enjoy how stamp issuing nations portray their musicians and composers. So how about a "musicians and composers" thread?

One of my favorites-
Austria 1922 semi-postal 7 1/2k black "Beethoven"

BTW, Jazz, Pop, Big Band, Rock or other music genres are acceptable too!

So what have you?

Jkjblue - An excellent idea for a thread!

Here is my first contribution: Beethoven, designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by Monaco on December 15, 1970 for the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth, Scott No. 777.

Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Austrian pianist and composer Wilhelm Kienzl (1857-1941), designed by Austrian painter Wilhelm Dachauer (1881-1951), engraved by Ferdinand Lorber, and issued by Austria on October 3, 1951 for the 10th anniversary of Kienzl's death, Scott No. 578, SG No. 528, plus a photo of the composer. Kienzl's first love was opera, then vocal music, and it was in these two genres that he became famous.

He could be Brahms's older brother.

1922 Austria semi-postal 5k dark blue " Mozart"

This semi-postal stamp series was sold at 10X face value, with the profit given to needy musicians. Note the favor "Graz" cancel on these stamps.

Listening to the Clarinet Concerto as I am uploading.

1922 Austria semi-postal 25K dark green "Anton Bruckner"

Unsure of his own ability, he readily adopted other peoples suggestions for "improvements" in his music.

I believe Bruckner was one of the last "classical" composers.
Probably much more well known and loved in Austria than internationally.
Have to admit though that his music is not exactly my cup of tea.

By the way Jkjblue, that Austrian composer set was nicely
engraved Herr Schirnböck. I never got around to squiring the set
but only have this reprint sheet.
