Sir Richard Owen (1804 – 1892) was an English biologist, comparative anatomist and paleontologist. Owen is generally considered to have been an outstanding naturalist with a remarkable gift for interpreting fossils. Owen produced a vast array of scientific work, but is probably best known for coining the word Dinosauria (meaning "Terrible Reptile" or "Fearfully Great Reptile").

The 100th anniversary of the death of Richard Owen, issued by Montserrat on May 1, 1992. The stamp shows Owen with Moa (extinct flightless bird) bone, design based on an old sketching:

Zdenek Michael Frantisek Burian (February 11, 1905, Koprivnice, Moravia, Austria-Hungary – July 1, 1981 Prague, Czechoslovakia) was a Czech painter and book illustrator whose work played a central role in the development of paleontological reconstruction. Originally recognized only in his native Czechoslovakia, Burian's fame later spread to an international audience during a remarkable career spanning five decades. He is regarded by many as the most influential palaeo-artist of the modern era, and a number of subsequent artists have attempted to emulate his style.

Many countries issued stamps based on Burian's paintings of prehistoric animals and origin of man. In my collection, more than 100 different stamps from all over the world. In 1994, the Czech republic issued a set of three stamps show dinosaurs painted by Burian to commemorate his work:

Stegosaurus ungulatus
Apatosaurus excelsus
Tarbosaurus bataar
