On October 24th 1971, Pau Casals (el Vendrell, Catalonia, 1876 - San Juan de puerto Rico, 1973), played for the first time his work "Himn of the United Nations" in New York. Prior to that, the said that he was a Catalan and explained some facts about our country.

The cinderella shown by Rod, was issued on September 1998 for the National Stamp Exhibition held at Barcelona's France station, as it commemorated the 150 years of railway on Iberian peninsula (September 1848) between the Catalan cities of Barcelona and Matarķ. On the cinderellas, you can see the station, as well as the British-built 1848 engine, called "Matarķ".
There's also another cinderella issued then, showing Barcelona's cathedral, as in 1998 we commemorated the 700 years of start building the Gothic cathedral of our city.
I know that pretty well, as I was on the organizing commitee of the event. Two very nice weeks with too many gone friends...
