Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

Speaking of watches. I remember an article in Time magazine circa 1970 which was about China's technological achievements after the upheavals of the Cultural Revolution. They were bragging that they finally produced watches which only lost half an hour every month. Look at them now. |

Red Cross Solidarity Week tax stamp, featuring the central train station of Skopje (Macedonia), showing the clock stopped at the time 5:16AM, which is when the major earthquake of 1963 destroyed much of the town. |

I agree with you Nells the Austrian ones are good looking stamps and have fine engraving. Interestingly each of the six stamps had a different engraver. The Austrian State Printers probably had a dozen engravers around that time. The M in M.Laurent stands for Maria. She was one of the few female engravers in what I suppose was/is a male dominated field.

Any thread about watches and clocks has to have something from Switzerland. Scott 615 |
