For his fourth labor, Eurystheus commanded Heracles to capture and bring to him (alive!) the fierce Erymanthian Boar. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Heracles completing this labor as the terrified Eurystheus takes cover in a half-buried pithos (storage jar), printed by lithography, and issued by Greece on March 16, 1970, Scott No. 977.

Wild boars, printed by photogravure, and issued by Romania on March 15, 1955, Scott No. 1016. Note: Wild boar hunting is a popular activity in Romania, often involving chases with dogs (terriers and scent hounds), or drives, where beaters drive the game to shooters waiting in stands who take shots at the running boars.

The red river hog (Potamochoerus porcus) is a wild member of the pig family found in western Africa. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a red river hog, printed by photogravure, and issued for use in Rio Muni on November 23, 1967 as one of a set of three indigenous animals stamps for Stamp Day, Scott No. 67.

Pigs, boats and millet granaries on Fadiouth island, designed by P. Opic, engraved by Roger Fenneteaux, and issued by Senegal on December 27, 1969 as one of four stamps in a set promoting tourism, Scott No. 325.

Here are images of a couple of similar stamps depicting a species of wild boar, the Banded Pig (Sus scrofa vittatus), designed by Laotian artist Ky Phung Chaleun, engraved by Roger Fenneteaux, and issued by Laos on September 7, 1970, Scott Nos. 203 & 204.

Bronze boar, an artifact of the La Tène culture (c. 450 BC), designed by Liechtenstein artist Louis Jaeger, printed by photogravure (Courvoisier, S.A.), and issued by Liechtenstein on March 11, 1971 as one of three stamps in a set commemorating the opening of the National Museum, in Vaduz, Scott No. 478.
