Last November I bid on a modest stamp lot with a few nice Canadian items. I won the lot and got an invoice sent to me like usual. This was not from a stamp house but a general or household auction. I phoned Arizona to give my credit card number promptly and thought I was in business. Well, after no less than 10 e-mail exchanges and false promises I have nothing. They aren't deadbeats because they didn't actually charge my card. They're just lazy, indifferent and dishonest for not fulfilling the transaction. I was very kind as the e-mails show. No idea what their problem is besides not caring. They are still running auctions so I have no idea how many others are getting stiffed too.

Sounds to me like the Canadian postal strike completely upended their normal workflow with respect to shipping to Canadian destinations, and they couldn't figure out how to do the same via UPS or FedEx... or didn't want to be bothered for such a small result.

OP deleted all of their corroborating evidence. Not sure why, since the images had personal information redacted... unless they were contacted and asked/warned to remove the information identifying the auction house.

The identifying information should be restored, and IF the auction house chooses to reply with their side of the story, they have that opportunity. Otherwise, this thread is completely useless.

Looks like it's a general auction house that sells all kinds of stuff - they have a hutch sitting outside their storefront on Google street view, so I doubt they would be monitoring a stamp forum like this.

They are clearly a brick-and-mortar auction house, and online foreign buyers are likely more of a hassle than a revenue stream. One can help their own interests by arranging pickup and making export easy for the auction house - but when you do this, you must navigate the rules governing declaration and import/export. Negotiables (stamps, currency) are amongst the most complicated to ship.

The details are gone from the thread. The Canada Post strike clearly forced USPS to suspend picking up shipments to Canada at the time. I'm not sure the name-and-shame is deserved.

Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain!
