I wondered about those wide margins. I know nothing about this kind of stamp, but on a Penny Black (for instance) I'd be puzzled by such wide margins without any part of an adjacent stamp included.

Also, my admittedly very limited experience of the differences between hand-made and machine-made paper suggests that this is more likely to be machine-made paper, which is wrong.

Is there a faint possibility that it could it be a die proof? There are lots of die proofs with wide margins here:

Yes, we can see that the margins are not normal. Here's an example of a block of 4 from the same issue. We easily remark that the margins can't be wider than a certain limit. It's maybe a plate proof, but don't forget, the pencil written signature looks a little like Jean de Sperati's signature, no? The design looks also a little odd. It's not looking exactly like the genuine examples. If it was a plate proof, the design would exactly be looking like the examples, right? By the way, thanks cjd for the advice, it's really appreciated.

Here's a comparison of the signature of Jean de Sperati and the written signature on the back of my stamp. I personally think that it looks like the end of "Sperati" on the back. Do you think too?

Here's an image of the back of my stamp that I took on the postmark reveal website. It shows a way better image of the partly erased signature. Do you think that it looks like Jean de Sperati's signature or not? I'm not sure if it is,but maybe someone else could tell me more.

Don't think it's Sperati's signature or work, though he generally signed in pencil. He made a smaller signature, on an upward slant.

You can see "genuine" Sperati's here:

I lost my notes on this, if I remember it identified it a fake.

Wow! We both have the same mark! That's maybe a mark saying: it's a fake.
