I am in need of advice to house 600 8 1/2" X 11" three hole punched James Drummond catalog pages with sheet protectors. I want to keep it light and simple. Binder thickness(1/2",1", 1 1/2", 2" )? "D" ring size or round? Type of page protector and anything else. There is a Staples or would have to order.
Decided to separate into 4-150 page binders. Best size? Rings?

Staple brand for both, I use for my collection, I mount on 65# cover sheet, insert to protector & place in 3" D ring binders. medium price for all (usually get binders on sale in multiple 3+ offer) |

So far my thoughts are Staples "medium" page protectors. Medium 1 1/2" D ring binder which holds 280 pages or 160 pages with sheet protectors. |

I find D-ring binders are better suited.
Looking at 600 pages, with the capacity of the 1 1/2 inch binders estimated at 160 sheets each (given the sheet protectors and likely less if your album stock is heavier than conventional copy paper) you would need 4 binders for sure, and more likely you will want 5 binders in the end so they are not jammed full. You might be happier with four of the 2 in. binders which are still quite manageable.
I would definitely not go with 1 inch or 1/2 in. binders - you just wind up having way too many and you wind up paying more per page stored if you have to buy that many.... I have a couple 1/2 in. and 1 in. binders left over from a consulting project which I repurposed for specific specialized philatelic projects and find they are almost always too small. Stick a Vario sheet or two in a 1/2 in. binder em and it seems you're done.

No stamps. No thick Hagner sheets These are lightweight 8 1/2"x11" letter sheets. Still advise 2" over 1 1/2"? |

If you're are going to be handling these a lot, I'd go with the 1.5s, cause we keep having birthdays. |

Yes I will handle these a fair amount. The 150-160 pages per binder will not change. |

Not sure if this might be another possible option.
I have a couple of his Catalogs, because I use them fairly often, and wanted them to sit flat when opened. I ended up taking them to the local Staples Office Supply Store and had them spiral bound.
At the time they were under $10 each to do, I don't know what they would charge now.
It sure makes them a lot easier to keep open. |

I measured the stack of 160 pages which comes to just under 1". The page protectors are equal if not a bit thicker than the pages. Looks like a full 2". |

Oops just realized the pages are numbered double sided so there are one half the number of pages in the catalog. So 600 pages is really 300 in total. So going with heavy duty 1 1/2" "D" ring binder and page protectors.
Hagner stock sheets in 1/2" binder for the stamps/cinderellas.

Oh, I'm sorry - I hadn't realised. I always enjoyed his posts. That's very sad. |

Yes the 1 1/"2 heavy duty Staples binders were the perfect size and weight. The binders will hold 100 -8 1/2"x11" pages in medium duty page protectors. The EKKO catalog divided up into four 75-85 page sections into four binders. |
