Have not found this strip of three in any reference book that I have - does anybody have any knowledge relating to this. Type Of U.S. Mail NYC Scott #6LB9 Lyons Forgery I1, U.S.P.O. Phil Pa 'S' Scott #7LB1 Lyon's Forgery G, U.S.P.O. Phil Pa 'P'Scott #7LB4 Forgery K - strip of 3
That's interesting to see those locals printed together on the same sheet.
I've seen other sheets with multiple designs. They were really kicking out these forgeries. Every stamp I look at takes 10 minutes with Lyons. Every single local stamp. 90% are forgeries.
I bought a large collection of locals from a retiring collector. He had a fair amount of forgeries, but some nice stuff that looked genuine, here are a couple:
including half a dozen covers, here are a couple of pages:
I also got a few nice reference books that I did not already have, I already had Lyons:.
And I also have duplicates for trade (yes, most are forgeries):
Sorry about the orientation of the photos. But I know that we all love to see photos.
You have some nice pieces including the covers. If you have Lyons 3 Vol Set you should be able to distinguish originals from the forgeries and reprints. Covers are more difficult to review as stamp may be good but cover is fake. I believe you might have another Aaron Sonsky forgery but can't tell from the scan. I was unable to enlarge any of your last group of scans to check closely. Thanks for the posts.
Which do you think is an Aaron Sonsky? I can provide a close-up photo. I like being able to label items correctly. (I've included a note in my collection with the sheet posted above.)
