*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***A repost. 25 years ago, I went to the B. Free Franklin post office in the 300 block of Market Street here in Philadelphia and had them stamp and cancel five envelopes with the last day of the 1900's, 12/31/1999. The next day I took these same envelopes over to the 2970 Market Street post office and had them stamp and cancel them with the first day of the 2000's, 1/1/2000. One of these dual-cancelled envelopes I donated to the Atwater Kent Museum.
Since those days, the Atwater Kent has closed, and their collection now resides with Drexel University. And the post office at 2970 Market Street closed back in 2008. But the Franklin post office is still in business.
