I was delighted to come across this today.
As I understand it, the official release date was 2 jan 1913
Not far away.

My 2021 ACSC lists the issue date for the 1d kangaroo as January 2, 1913 (in Sydney), and January 4, 1913 (in Melbourne). You have a very early date, for sure, but not the earliest. Nice find.

As stated, the "dash" you notice between the T and R is quite normal. Here is a closeup of one of my stamps.

I should have some info on the Sydney machine cancel. Will dig it out later today

The machine cancel shown is the latest recorded date for the sub-type, which was October 1912.

The cancel was introduced in June 1909, and this is the first of the three sub-types.
