Hello all,

Can anyone decipher the address for me please? Also, I believe the censorship mark was applied in St Petersburg, am I correct? Lastly, the postcard was returned to sender as inadmissible. The handstamp that indicates this in French and German is in the same colour as the censorship handstamp, so I assume they were applied at the same place. If anyone has an idea as to why, I'd be grateful. The date of posting in Athens seems to be 14 July 1917.

Many thanks,

Adrian

Your card was addressed to St Petersburg. Arrived in Odessa where it was censored with a characteristic square Odessa military censorship mark. If you are sure about the 1917 date, it is rather interesting because this censorship mark is supposed to have been used only till the end of 1914 (there are other square censor marks of Odessa, but with slight variations).
I am not sure why its further travel north was prohibited and the card returned.
