Just Ordered 3 Kg Kiloware Scandinavia

Received an email from a large Dutch online Stamp seller called
Collectwereld.

3 KG of (older) Scandinavian kiloware, only €22.75.

I could not resist. :)

It should look something like this, I will show some pictures of the actual stamps once I have received the package.



Anyone who can share some experiences from buying kiloware from this
seller?

Hello Rob, in my opinion that is not kiloware, just a bunch of (mostly) never postally used stamps from emptied albums.
Besides that I see no relevance to my initial post.

Looking forward to a report when you get this, not numbers of each stamp, but overall impression. Hopefully, it will be a good source for town cancels if you like such things.

Northwinds, I bought from him before. Almost all stamps were canceled. Many duplicates.
I brought it as another example of quantity, (lack of) quality, and price.
How do you define kiloware? I thought it was usually a cheap quantity of stamps.

Rob, personally I define kiloware as a large accumulation of postally used stamps that are still on paper. (so FDC clippings do not count)

Usually these stamps are/were collected from the mail room of larger companies, of course there is the 'mission' kiloware and some come from other sources.

I donot consider a box filled with off-paper stamps kiloware, as least not as I see it. In your Ebay example many stamps were never even postally used and basically these stamps come from emptied albums. They may be sold by weight, but I don't see this as kiloware.

One thing I like about 'real' kiloware is that the stamps are 'fresh' once they are off paper. No gum, no hinges, no yellowing from age or from storage in an old album.

Well today the 3 kilo Scandinavia on paper has arrived.

The contents is similar to the picture on their website that I copied in my first message.

It's old kiloware, appr. from 1985 to about 1998.
Since I am a semi-worldwide collector and sofar never spent much time on Scandinavia I can use quite a few of these stamps for my own collection.

But first I like to start new collections for Denmark/Finland/Sweden and Norway with just the stamps in this mountain of stamps.
I am curious for the result.

Will post pictures once I have finished. (will take some time)

I plan to take out the stamps that I can use and sell the rest on a local site. If someone on the forum is interested I should be able to ship within Europe for not too much, I will take out only 2 or 3 of each stamp at the most.

I'm assuming that this is mostly definitives?! Or, are you seeing a decent amount of medium/large in the mix? Say, 10% or more? If mostly definitives, the end count could be significant. They appear to be not closely cut. Are you seeing mostly single paper, or?

Will you process everything, or just the ones you need? That's alot of soaking!

Mostly definitives, not too closely cut but most is on single or double (thin) paper.
Because it's not too closely cut there are quite some good postmarks in here.

Just spent an hour going through the first bunch of stamps, this will not be done in 2 or 3 days I am afraid.

Will only take what I need, probably a couple of hundred of stamps. Will not soak more.

That's exactly how I would do it, too. Have fun - bound to be interesting PMs and varieties...

Be careful soaking the yellow Manila fragments, the colour is fugitive.

I paid only €16.70, shipping included but that was because I had a 10 euro coupon that I was given recently as a welcoming gift after placing my first order for some Lighthouse Vario pages. (had to use it in 2 months or so)
