Its a Mountain President gold and sliver mine stock certificate. Also where was this mine and when did it go bankrupt or out of business. Thanks in advance for any help. Also were the stamps on the front interest paid or what where they for?

Hi Jim,

California.

According to this book:

this company went out of business around 1905.

The two stamps paid the revenue tax on the stock certificate.

If the 20 cent stamp says "Foreign Exchange" on it, then it's worth around $80 or more, depending on its condition and centering (can't tell either from your photo).

If it says "Inland Exchange" on it though then it's only worth maybe a dollar.

Jim

I have very little knowledge in this area, but..you might try posting this on:

Your item is really more of a numismatic thing. Revenue collectors will no doubt be heard from on this.
