Steamships have long been a favorite theme of mine. Whether they be on stamps, stocks/bonds,, checks, or just engravings, steamships are hard for me to pass up when they come up for sale. Below are a couple I got at prices that I consider quite reasonable, probably because the checks themselves are a little less than pristine.

The one from the First Nat'l Bank of Green Bay is a particularly interesting one, as this check was issued with the same steamboat vignette but in a variety of paper colors.

I'd really like to see any checks or stocks (or anything!) that you've got with steamships on them!

I've got a receipt from Covolo, Cal 1906 for $10 that has a steamship on it. It also has a couple of folds, sorry to say.

I can do much better with postcards, but since this is the forum for Checks, Stock, and Bonds, I'll limit myself to two cards from the Humboldt Bay at Eureka Cal.

I'll add one -- this one was paid from the account of the St. Louis Bank Note Co. and signed by its president. SLBNC later merged with Western Bank Note -- the printer of this check!

Dan, I really like that first check from Columbia National Bank. The vignette is called "The Ferry" and I have an example of it as a proof by National Bank Note Co. Beautiful design.

I was thumbing through my vignette proof collection today and thought I would scan something else for this thread. I don't know whether this engraving appeared on checks of the Iron Steamboat Company, but it did appear on their letterhead.

Hi all

Here is a steamship for viewing.

I've enlarged the ship in the second scan to see better.
