The SCF Search Engine is quite powerful.

The SEARCH button appears at the top of every SCF page:

The SEARCH dialog contains several options to refine your results.

A few thoughts

  • If you choose a good keyword or two, you probably won't need the other options.

  • 'Exact phrase' is most restrictive, then 'all words'

  • You can limit your search to a single forum/area if you wish.

  • I usually try searching SUBJECT ONLY before trying the more inclusive 'Entire Message' option.

  • If you search by member name, you must EXACTLY match the SCF username.

That will help some users, no doubt.

There is still no way to directly skip to the page within the topic that contains the search term...right? For example, if I search a particular engraver's name, the Collecting by Engraver thread comes up, but the topic has 141 pages.

(Hope it hasn't been there, and I've just missed it.)

If you click on the "printer friendly" button, you will get all pages of the thread on one single page, you can then use "CTRL+F" for searching for a specific term on that page.

Thank you. I would love to be able to sort the result by date, or am I missing something?
