Hi all..I decided recently to get back into collecting..its been years since I gave away the collection I had so I am starting all over. Any suggestions as far as best albums to use or catalogs to use for reference? I used the Scott Catalogs back when I collected before but was wondering the best ones now since its been over 20 years and things may have changed.

Welcome!
Scott is still used widely in the USA but there are many specialized catalogs, what are your collecting interests?

Welcome, Wolf.

I think you'll find the majority of members here, including me, collected, quit, then resumed the hobby.

I wouldn't say that I quit. I just wasn't terribly active for a while. It was amazing how stamp collecting filled a void in my life when I got divorced. That's when I got back into it, and have never stopped since. Remarried now, 20 years later, and this wife "gets it". When I showed her what I was doing, and compared it to her scrap-booking hobby, she totally understood and supports me.

I was also one of those still monitoring the hobby but not actively involved since I maintained my APS membership and had been a moderator at VSC forum. My Dad, who collects as well, started giving new issues for Christmas every year (only gift) but I mostly stored them away. It took me 6 months to get organized again - going through what I had, ordering more mounts, new catalogue, other supplies, bookcase to hold them, finding forums like this. etc.

I'll be doing general US and certain state stamps. Haven't really considering doing specialty state stamps more generalized but doing certain state specialty items like animals or such if they have them
