Not sure the picture I have provided will work trying to indentify grill on A25 Washington stamp affix to cover. Ouestion is should I try to remove stamp from cover to determine grill markings.

Try illuminating the grilled area from the side with a bright light. Should cast shadows of the grill points, making them more visible. Nice looking cancel. |

Keep the stamp in place; there's no need here to see the back. There are covers around where the stamp has been lifted then hinged back in place. It's not really recommended.
It already looks like an F grill; the points are pointing downward as they should.
Please do show us the cover. |

Looks like they are from the same person. Nice pair. The lack of even a town mark on the E grill is odd, canceled but not postmarked. |

Assuming that the 1 cent paid the drop letter rate there is no need for a postmark since it never left the city it was mailed in. Only cancelling the stamp to prevent reuse was needed. |

I will post 2 more pictures these covers addressed to this same person trying indentify color . A24 with no grill marks no postmark also assume 63 guess they are considered to be trial color proofs. The A25 no grill marks also postmark only July 8th with no year.

Can you be more specific on why you think you would have trial color proofs on cover? Also, using IDs like A24 etc is not accurate. The A24 is a illustration number. Not a catalog number. |

Use color to determine if your grilled stamp might be less than common. Also, there are many threads here on this forum concerning points count vertically and horizontally. Do your best, then if you still don't have your answer, then please query us. |
