Maybe I am getting old, but why do I need to see "Sling"
on this stamp forum as an advertiser. It is creepy to
see this constantly. Would love to hear your comments!

I did try to remove it. That lead me into a loop.

I don't know what "Sling" is but the Adsense ads are based on your browsing history.

Hey Bobby, that is not true. I do not browse or visit BS sights.

I see this ad on TV and everywhere.

Thought I could avoid it on this forum. I am not trying to
aggravate anyone. It is sickening to see that ad.

Yes, I'm afraid it is. Maybe someone else is responsible.

I'm here all day and I've never seen it, nor have I seen it anywhere. I don't even know what it is.

I've been seeing ads for sweatpants all day because I was on Amazon shopping for some yesterday.

All that being said, if you click on it and give me the URL of the page it lands on, I can block it. Takes up to 6 hours sometimes though.

I think that the add that I see is staging a bombardment on billboards, TV, and on other sights as well. I do have two boys in there twenties that visit my home and use my internet. Games that I do not play. I am proud to say I am too old for face book. I did not want to make a big deal of this.

When you see the ad, you will know what I am referring to.

In the meantime, if you see it, get me the landing page address so I can block it. Email it to me though, don't post it here.

OK I am mystified. What is 'Sling'?

There is a TV service named Sling, could that be it?

For awhile back in October Amos Press was giving me ads on their website for some tee shirt company with a big picture of a 'Lock Up Hillary' shirt. I didn't care for it and felt it inappropriate for a philatelic site. It got pulled after I complained.

Sling is a multichannel live TV service that streamed over the internet. I think it was the first one and currently is the least expensive service. Danny Trejo (actor and former criminal) is the current spokesperson.

FYI, I just saw the Sling banner ad on a fresh install. As Bobby mentioned the banner ads are generally targeted. Cookies are used to profile our marketing preferences. If you go to a mountain biking website, the coolie info will let banner ads companies know to present 'outdoor' type ads to you. But some ad will be presented, even if they have no marketing history for you.

Bobby & Don,

"I can see clearly now" that you are both correct.

I will say that without thinking much in regards to this thread,
I googled Jim Cramer MSN stock guy, and now I see him everywhere!

I am not crazy about Jim Cramer, but he is easier to look at than
Danny Trejo. Thanks Don, I would not have been able to put a name
on that face. I try to love everyone, but that face is one that
only a mother could love!

The only ads I see at the top are stamp related ads. I used ingonito mode and logged in and see the same ads. At the bottom above the quick reply I see a non=philatelic ads. If I do not log in, I see fewer adds.

The deuce you say! Danny Trejo is the bomb! But of course, YMMV.
