Family,

There may be others out there like myself who click the "Donate" button rather than the "Subscribe" options. The difference is control over who is initiating the expenditure. By the way, I consider "Supporter" status as a way of thanking the SCF staff for their excellent work.

Just made a small donation, hopefully just the first. Only real reason I hadn't donated already was because I tend to forget that operations like this have expenses. Lord knows this place is worth a lot more than $0 to me, personally, and it's only appropriate to chip in when the hat is passed.

I do agree that notification is not as useful if what was posted is not included with the notification. In other discussion forums, the notification is configurable through an options panel.

I was disappointed to learn that SCF isn't "pulling its own weight." It's always nice to get free stuff but we have to keep in mind that it isn't completely free; someone is paying to keep the lights on.

I remember the panic a lot of us had when the 1847USA website went dark. Fortunately it was rescued by Don! Sometimes we don't know what we had until it's gone.

Let's not put Bobby and the rest of the folks that keep the lights on at SCF in a financial pickle!

Become a Supporter or donate if you can to keep this great resource online!

Dan

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

Since time passes by quickly and I'm getting more forgetful as I get older, I recently subscribed at a modest level to provide continuing support to the folks who oversee SCF. That way I don't wake up one day and realize how long it's been since I remembered to toss a few coins into the pot to help defray expenses. Since I'm newly back to the hobby and have received much more assistance from other people on this forum than I've been able to provide in return, I figure this is one way I can help out and also tangibly thank the folks who run the forum.

As many times as I have been on I never really looked at what the support button was about. The knowledge and kindness of the people on these forums is definitely worthy of support from all who use it. Button pushed! Thanks for the post! (Blunt is good sometimes)
