and not by hot grease this time!

I bought a "kiloware" of 1,000+ Japan stamps from eBay, and there is 392 (yes, almost 40%) of ONE stamp! And, there is only 22 different stamps in the whole thing! Of those 22, there are 9 stamps that have 3 or less, the rest have at least 50!

The listing said "with duplication" which is common for these, but almost 400?! And only 22 different stamps?! Out of 1,000?

I've had great luck with ebay so far and with buying big lots. Am I wrong to be upset with this? Is it ok to link the listing?

Stefani, there are people out there just for a profit...i think you got off easy...you will not buy from that person again..but other people will and they will be dissatisfied...its happened to most of us if not all of us..give them to kids or a charity..you will never be able to get rid of them otherwise...

Phil, you always say the right thing, lol! But, as usual, you are right. They came from Malaysia, and I paid about $5 shipping and everything, so I guess you get what you pay for, huh? It would cost more than I paid to send them back, anyway, so I may as well get over it.

And at least I've learned something. I will only buy items clearly defined on ebay from now on. And I am liking stampoffers and stampwants bettter and better! I got a package from someone on there the other day, and I hadn't ever talked to the seller, and he had read on the board that I was new at collecting, and sent me a nice letter about collecting some extra stamps! Wasn't that awesome? So from all the good things that have came my way in my collecting, this is nothing. I've had so many great experiences, it more than balances out.

I have no where to pass these on to, any suggstions?

Grrrr. I'd be mad too.

I guess I've been lucky on ebay so far. I've been very cautious, spending only small amounts and asking myself "Can I afford to lose this much money if this deal goes bad?" So far I haven't had any big disappointments --I hope my luck holds out!

Close to 400 duplicates of one stamp --that's outrageous!

I have had that happen, too! I complained via email to the seller and he apologised and asked me what % was duplicates--then he offered to send me another lot. You might try that--couldn't hurt complaining about it to the seller--they want good feedback and SOMETIMES will make it right. Just an idea.

stefani,
Could you look for variations in color, paper, format, perfs, or production company for that 1 stamp? There maybe a silver lining in that dark cloud. On the other hand, I would contact the seller & voice my complaint.

Dude, she could look for varieties of perfs, shades of color etc: but I would hate to admit how many years I collected before I got to that point !!

I think the key tip off was the $5 for the stamps including the shipping and handling. It is normal to have duplicates but one would expect more different varieties than you got.

I still like kilos and I much prefer to buy them from a dealer than off of ebay or another less known mail order place.

As others have said - "Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt."

You have to be really careful when buying lots like that. Don't be afraid to email and ask questions before you bid.

Voice your complaint to the seller and if he does not correct the matter, DO give negative feedback so others won't get stuck by this guy too.

Hi Stephanie........

I agree that you have been deceived and have found a seller to avoid........but this is not "eBay's" fault. I'm not one to generally defend ebay, but this is something they really have no control over.

Maybe it's time for us to create our own list of trustworthy sellers........forum managers could maybe set up an up-datable master list only visible to members, in several categories including ebay, stamp wants and any others we wish to post.

What do you think folks ??
