Have never really spent any time with these and the color paper thing just loses me. Can someone identify these and let me know the Scott number ?

I'll take a shot (someone can correct me if I'm wrong):

1st scan = U231
2nd scan = U250
3rd scan = U330
4th scan = U311 design, although this one is a bit tricky as it is hard to determine exactly what the color paper is as opposed to what natural aging has done to the paper. If not on white paper, it could be:

Amber = U312; or
Oriental Buff = U313; or
Manila = U315

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) the value doesn't really change all that much between any of the paper varieties for that issue.

The UPSS (United Postal Stationery Scoiety) has a great 19th and 20th Century ePublications(pdf)catalog @ $13 each. The are a wonderful investment for any serious US postal stationery & postal cards. Each contains hundreds of pages with imiages and helpful ways to identify most anything. See at theirsite: http://www.upss.org/code/epublicati...4fe47e863e86

Thanks guys, I wasn't too far off. After looking at them I decided to find a place in the binder for them, I just hope I didn't end up on a slippery slope :)

stallzer,

I'd like to include a scan of your U311-family cut square in my Die 88 study. Any way I can get a 1200 dpi scan of that fellow?
