Hi All,

I'm looking for some kiloware.
Mostly UK and USA.

On eBay.nl/ebay.com I can't find much (5-10 results)...
So are there webshops, based in the UK, that have kiloware stamps?
I hope so.

Well, I hope that you all can help me,

Greetings, Rik

On eBay make sure you have Location / Worldwide checked on, and auctions only tab selected on top and then search under the stamps category for 'gb kilo*' and you will get 45 or so results.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Stamps-/260...3286.c0.m283

Searching for 'gb on paper' will give you some of the same but also some different ones.

Do not go so deep into the categories that you stop some results coming up. Just stay in the upper general category of Stamps and search for different word combinations from there.

Try with UK substituted for GB also of course.

Search for 'grams' is sometimes helpful also but some people like to abbreviate even the short word gram to grm or gmm or gm. You never know. You just hope they also included some of the orher words you are searching for.

You can go into the categories and look there but sometimes people put things in the wrong categories when they are listing more than one item that night or chosse the incorrect category to start with. The categories in Europe and different than in the USA too.

Example US stamps
Stamps - North America - United States
Stamps - United States

This doesn't help in finding things at all so you are left with searching for words or numbers or just cruising through all the stamps listings which is interesting but very time consuming.

Searching for Us stamps is a special challenge. Search for the always there (hopefully) word 'kilo*' (the asterick being a wild card so the search returns anything with the letters kilo at the beginning) but then also do separate searches at times for 'on paper' or oz, lb, lbs, pounds, ounces, grams, gms, US, USA, United States, "U.S.A."including quotes as some people think that the eBay search program understands periods (which it doesn't), "U.S.A" because some forget the last period, (sometimes no country name or abbreviation at all as sellers have the idea that it helps economies to not sell to other countries (not correct, never was, never will be)), North America, the French words for any of these, German, Spanish, etc.

Sometimes, from Europe, you will get United States mixed in with Canada as it is all the same to some people there. Or a world or worldwide mix that has mostly North America stamps. I'd rather get one countru I wanted but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

Remember to search for 'off paper' and the same in other languages, as those mixtures are interesting also. It's all good.

Use different words like mix, mixture, mix*, lot, collection, assortment, selection, page, bag, box, scan*, scanner, pile, etc, etc.

It is fun searching for weird (seemingly) combinations or words and mis-spelled words and odd lots as a lot of people will miss these and the bidding will be less ferocious as only the searchers will find these and most of them will want a bargain so they can resell the lot for a higher price.

A US stamps example, although the 'under described' is not limited to just one country at all, happens everywhere, makes it challenging!

On eBay: entitled
Almost 5 ounces of US stamps - used. Hundreds of stamps mostly mid 20th century
under the categories Stamps - United States - Collections/Lots (good)

This only uses the words 'stamps - used', no kiloware or lot or mixture names, no 'on paper'.

There is the word 'ounces' so when I searched for ounce eBay found the plural of it. This works for some words but not all, never assume that eBay will find the other words that can be used as well as the one you search for.

This closes soon but the seller indicates he sells a lot of these -- "mixture" and "on/off paper" might be other useful search terms for you to try.

The * also works sometimes for searching for country names spelled diefferently in different languages.

Example Belgium or Belgique in French and other variations in other European languages. Search for 'belg*' and you have most of them covered.

Or Canada stamps. Some people like to list them as Canadian. So searching for 'canad*' gets both, but also misses those who do not use any country name at all and rely on the catehories for people to find things.

Hi Rik,

What type of kiloware are you looking for ?
A mix of old and modern, all on paper or a mix of on and off paper ?
Plenty of UK dealers sell kiloware on the net, not via eBay.

I also have a big bunch of [mainly] GB Kiloware for sale and some US, mostly off paper. If interested let me know. I'll try and post a list of dealers later when work subsides !

First of all, sorry for bumping this thread.
But, I'm seeking for Japan and Russia (USSR period).
So are there online shops that sell Japan and/or USSR.

Many Thanks

Hi Londonbus1
I would be interested in your big bunch of off paper kiloware. (I tried to email you but for some reason the system wouldn't let me).

Or anyone else who has off paper please contact me via the SCF or at rohitha (at) actrix.co.nz

Thanks

Rik, if you are still looking for kiloware-- and this may be an economical way for you to find some-- I suggest you use the German version of eBay. If you start on eBay (dot) de and go to the "Briefmarken" area, you'll actually find that "kiloware" has it's own category on eBay Germany, and last time I looked there were 1400+ listings.

Since you live in the Netherlands, I expect you know enough German to navigate/search the site-- I've found a few very uncommon small country kiloware there, as well as good variety from "popular" countries.

Best regards,
Peter
