Joeytoat recently started a thread elsewhere asking about members' names and how they came about.

Some had great stories, others were simple and some maybe wished they had great stories.

http://goscf.com/t/20784&whichpage=1

Well, you can't change your names now, I won't let you !

But we can have a fun competition.

Everyone and anyone can join in, even new members with only a few posts.....let me explain.

If you could give a new SCF name to a member, what would it be ?
Yes, this little competition gives us all the chance to change others names.
But it requires thought.
The winners [two in total] will be those who give the most appropriate 'handle' to another member. You cannot give yourself another name....although others might !
Think about the name, maybe connected to their collection, hobbies, dress sense, place of living etc.

For example I might call Rod222, 'fingertappin' due the number of posts he has made here.
Or, I might call LaSwabbie, 'The Invisible Man' due to the fact he has disappeared !
Names should be shortish, remember it's a SCF name/handle.

Few simple rules.

1]. You can give any number of members a new name but only once per member. For example, if a member gave Dianne Earl 6 new names, only the first would count. So only one per member please.

2]. You cannot give yourself a new name.

3]. Only three entries maximum per post. You can however have more attempts on another post.

The winner will be decided by you, by private vote. And you, as a judge, may also be a winner !

You can just give a name for your entry/ies but you can also give an explanation/reason too. Or just leave it to the imagination.

The competition will run until 2pm Board time on Friday December 30th.
Entries after this date and time will not be accepted.

When posting, please give the name of the member followed by your 'new' name on the same line.

Example:
Rod222.......fingertappin'
Followed by an explanation if you wish.

From Saturday 31st December until Friday January 6th you can vote for your TWO favourite entries by sending me an email through the board. I will post a message when your email has been received just in case there are any problems sending. You cannot vote for your own entries.

Banter during the competition is allowed, encouraged even, but please banter on a seperate post to your entries.

The poster of the two 'new' names who get the most votes will win a lovely prize and it will be [as much as can be]connected to your collecting interests. In the event of a three [or more] way tie, a sudden death vote-off will take place.
You will not be disappointed.

A further prize will be awarded to the sender of the email containing the two eventual winners [should there be one]. In the event of more than one winner, correct order will decide. If there are more than one in the correct order I will put the names in my hat !

I will not be joining in, but I will be voting !

Anyone can join in. In the event a new member with less than 50 posts wins the competition, the prize will be held in my bank vault until the magic figure is reached [and they behave nicely ]

Have fun.

I had thought of that for wert as well! Excellent Stamps101.

How about for our host:
Londonbus1...Cinderfella -I think the reasons are obvious.

Rod222...paddleman - always the first to raise his at an auction, for which I am always grateful.

Philb = Pavlov.

Phil's interesting ability to post behaviorist threads
that have us musing in self reflection, on our passtime hobby.
Full of introspection.

Londonbus1...londontaxi1. How he manages to drive his bus around all the members, giving out very helpful advice is beyond me. He needs a taxi so he can get around a lot quicker and visit many more members......watch that pillar ! Too late.

ZZ111...Sleeping Beauty. He/she joined on 3/1/11,but they must of falling asleep as they have no posts nor do they list a country. Hopefully by winning this competition, they & the many others with no posts will awaken from their deep sleep.

(I have to remember that I'm in NZ and this is USA based. I put 1/3/11 when it should of been 3/1/11. NZ goes day, month, year whereas USA is month, day, year)

tonymacg...tonychestnut. I'd be able to have a quiet littlechuckle to myself, every time I saw his name. Sometimes, when I was younger many moons ago,I use to tease my younger siblings that someone named Tony watched them get into their pj's at night. I would then point to their body and say there he is - Toe knee chest nut. (Nut of course, been head, but you knew that)
In those days,I was a young little terror...nothings change. Now I'm a older little terror.

Remember that there's 50 pages of members names with 50 names per page,so there's a lot to choose from.
Get your thinking caps on & let your mind run riot.
Remember upstairs for thinking, downstairs for sitting.

Hi Londonbus1, This is a great competition,so I'm willing to put up a couple of prizes. Let me know and I'll tell you what they are and you can decided how to use them. I can post them direct to the winner/s if need be. Will you post photos of what members can win or will you keep it under wraps?
In the event that I win, I will put the prize up for auction and donate the money to SCF.

You can have more goes on another post Rod. It was 3 per post because I didn't want to see huge long lists. The more posts the better.

So keep trying.

Some great attempts so far

Keep 'em comin'

Hmmmmm.
Rod222 said, "Well, I had better use up my third and last choice

Sounds familiar. I think I may have to rethink his new handle.
