I just bought about 20 German regular issue lots of a dealer's stockbook on eBay. They included most issues from around 900 to 1150 or so and from 10 to 60 of each issue.

I don't need a single one of the stamps, but I figure I got them for somewhere in the neighborhood of 7% to 8% of Scott's so I'm happy enough. I'll use them to give away, make up some 100 different packets to advertise, or use them for fire kindling come winter. At the least, I'll have a chance to look for some interesting cancels.

That happened to me this spring I bought some older stamps from Chile and recieved about 25 different stamps some having a couple hudred copies. I didn't Pay much for them so I was still happy

I've been giving them away. And they'll make great sets to trade with.

So here we are..what is a stamp worth ? if you have one minimum value its worth 20 cents..if you have 50 of the same...not much..kiloware can bite you...i still am tempted by the exotic descriptions at times..but its work even to give that many duplicates away !!

It's more than work Phil - it's a royal PIA, but sometimes you just gotta be an idiot! I do that quite often. Since I finally got rid of all of the kilo I bought a few years ago, I've got to have something new to complain about!

OK, the last of the lots have cleared and overall I ended up getting over $2600 SCV at 3.2%. I'll take that even if I end up giving all of it away to other family members.

I missed a couple of lots, but I picked up almost everything from 838 to 1384 in the end. What I didn't win, I probably have in smaller numbers already. You know my email address and you know I'll share!

That's exactly what it is Baomo. It's a LOT of stamps so you don't really see many people selling/buying that way anymore. 1 Kilo = 2.54 pounds I think.

baomo

If you're patient and willing to put in the time a new collector can build his or her stamp collection in no time on ebay. I've won many lots of 500 or 1000 stamps for 99 cents and $1.25. I endend up with many duplicates but this made it possible for me to share with others and make great trades.

Dianne is right. I bought one true kilo eight or nine years ago and just finished giving away the last of it a couple of months ago. IMHO, you should stick to 1000 stamps or less unless you're wanting to build up some duplicate stock for trade, etc.
