What Topics Do You Actively Collect?

Modern personalized stamps, mostly Canadian but France and Japan are calling.

Hexagon-shaped stamps, cancels, covers, hexagon shapes on stamps.

The corrugated circle cancels of France. The star or mill-wheel cancels of Bavaria.

That is to say I like the looks of all these, not to say I have many of each at all. Anticipation is half the fun, don't you know?

I collect Australian from States to now, Tasmanian and Victorian postmarks, Great Britain, British Commonwealth, US precancels, early Canada and Birds. With most of the above I like to collect both the stamps and covers.

I have been playing with the idea, for a while, of making my own maxicards and printed covers, but these are still neonatal.

Oh and like Rodd222 I keep everything that crosses my path, even counter labels. :)

I don't like specializing as there are so many wonderful stamps out there.

I've started collecting stamps featuring the British royal family, specifically focusing on Queen Elizabeth II and her family. I've ordered some current stamps directly from the British Royal Mail. For now I will be keeping them in a binder of Vario pages, but I am interested in learning how to create my own pages so I can write little tidbits of information about each royal and about the stamps.

Nichole, I create all of my own pages using MS Word. The advantage to creating your own is that you can add the documentation and image you want. It is pretty easy to do it with Word but it is still time consuming. Here is an example from my expo cancels album http://goscf.com/t/15013

Russ, I think Word is a good option. Does ink jet vs. laser printer matter?

I use inkjet, many people prefer laser. There are pros and cons to both but I have never had a problem with inkjet with over 2500 page done. There are a few threads about this just search "album pages" in the forum and you will get a lot of info.

pretty much everything that crosses my path. I prefer large boxes full of world wide unsorted from old estates or old dealer stock. As I can afford, which is not near often enough.....

I have more "in depth" collections of pre-decimal GB, New Zealand and Germany (although because I collect anything German that is too big a subject, really need to narrow it down) also an Airbus-related collection comprising mostly covers. Having said that, I also keep just about anything pre-1970!

I now limit myself to Australian flaws such as these mint $1 Sergeant from the 1974 Painting series. White line thru 4 of the strip of five stamps.

I'm sorry, but isn't the accepted definition of a "topical" collecting a particular subject matter on stamp, not simply collecting a country? Someone who collects only Zimbabwe or Lithuania wouldn't be a topical collector IMO, but someone who collected gorillas on stamps certainly would.

What does everyone else think?

you are correct but his are specific to flaws with in the country.. there for not the country itself .. if I read this correctly.....

I'm just starting a small collection of autograph stamps,as I mentioned on another post. I've a number of stamps with peoples signatures, so I thought I'd get an autograph book and put them in it.

Haven't found my topical roots yet.

I didn't mean his post specifically, there are just lots of people saying "I collect X country", which is great, it's just not a topical.
