The Commemorative Air Force sent me a solicitation for money that contained the stamp imaged below. A pleasant surprise as I have a topical collection of aircraft on stamps. It is a Boeing B-17 named Sentimental Journey and is one of two flying B-17s maintained by the CAF.

In the past, the CAF frequently has provided return postage before for contributions, but this is the first time, it has used Stamps.com to produce a specialized stamp. Must have a new person in the marketing department.

I'll probably give them a few bucks, but I'll use regular postage and put this one in my collection.

Anyone else get one of these or one picturing a different aircraft?

Don

That is a pretty one. Never seen an aircraft on one of those stamps, but I do have some from other fund raisers that I went ahead and used on mail that I made sure I would get back. Like you, I ( sometimes ) send a contribution back and use a regular stamp!

... using stamps.com to put a club logo on outbound mail sure beats achronistic use of old commemoratives. Cheers,

Beautiful. Aside from the primary reason these aircraft were built, 70 years after, they are still revered. They are heroes which kept our freedom and that of others and were built with speed and performance in mind.

That must have been a nice surprise.
