Even though datedlined March 4, 1905 it was only postmarked at 3 AM on March 5, 1905. Too bad it wasn't mailed a few hours earlier

You know. It took me a few seconds on google to realize that P. Roosevelt was not some other cousin. Peter? Philip? Patrick?

I suspect the "P" stands for President. Here's what Teddy's dining room looked like after he moved into the White House. Who else would put a moose head over the mantle?

Today was inauguration of P. Roosevelt (plus 28).

Twenty eight years to the day of the OP's posting, another P. Roosevelt was inaugurated as President. Note the date and place of the cover and cancellation.

PS: If anybody out there has a cover dated 4/12/1945 and postmarked Warm Springs, Ga, I would sure like to know about it. Will pay well!

That red stamp "A Stamp Collector for President" from the American Philatelic Society is very interesting. For a non profit society to promote a candidate is really unusual and violates the rules for a non-profit. But, I like it for being so clever.
