Hi All,
Fleetwood are selling what they describe as the Original Artworks commissioned for their first day covers. I wonder has anyone experience of purchasing some of these works and what is the general opinion regarding their value and authentisity.
Many thanks,
Sceach.

Can you post a link for us? I believe Fleetwood first day covers are part of the Mystic Stamp Company today:

While some of the original artwork used can be very collectible, a lot would depend on the subject matter, the artist and, of course, the cost.

These are the types of artwork I am interested, the cost depending on the artist of course varies from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. It would be nice to have the original artwork framed with the Fdc, but of course everything depends on cost and value.
Thanks for your reply,

Since this is getting into a cross-over niche of collectible art which is out of my area of knowledge, I'll have to defer to others as to whether or not the material presented is worth the price being asked.

It's certainly interesting and collectible and Paul Calle is recognized as a notable artist of stamps and covers, but I really have no idea of the value of his artwork in the retail market.

Paul Calle was a well known commercial artist back then, though his fame came from his paintings of the Apollo program. The only item on that list that I would think is worth the price range they are asking is the "Paul Calle: The First Step of Man on the Moon" one. There is no price next to that one though so I assume it is already sold. In my opinion the rest of the ones on the list would be worth substantially less than what they are asking.
