My father received it some time ago from the sons of a deceased friend who also collected stamps. It appears to be an award from the Philatelic Show Finlandia 88. It consists of two medallions that combined weigh approximately 9.8 ounces. One of the medallions has a set of hallmarks that includes 925 and is a matte gold color. It has a globe on it with various postage emblems and transportation methods that circle the globe. The other medallion is brown in color and has the image of family standing in in a envelope. Each medallion has a small cut out on the back that is about two inches by one inch and holds a small gold colored plate that has what appears to be a royal coat of arms. I have been able to find only one possible reference that mentions large gold plated silver awards from Finlandia 88. I am researching this for my mother and appreciate any information or opinions about this object.

Thank you,

Charles

I wish I could help you but what I am wondering is if you could scan it for in here and possibly another member might be able to offer some insight on this (?)

Hi,
925 is a hallmark used on silver, not on gold. So this would fit with a gold-plated silver medal. There are websites where you can look up the other letters numbers and symbols on your hallmark. These should give you the date of manufacture and the maker, and the place it was hallmarked. (Well that's what they do in the UK, anyway, I assume its an international thing?)

They are the scandinavian stamp club and they probably know of that medal, A photo of the medal would be great even a mobile cell phone photo would be great.

Sorry all for the late response but here are the requested pictures. I will hold off on the link provided for now in order to hear what the people here think.

Thank you all,
