Good Evening,

Much to my surprise I have taken an interest in collecting Iran and I'm considering jumping in to collecting revenues from Iran. If anyone has any information on reputable dealers and literature on the subject I would be very thankful.

I have my eye on the 2nd edition of "Revenue Stamps of Iran" by Sasan Bahareen and Gordon Brooks (2006), but haven't pulled the trigger just yet....pretty pricey at $145-ish.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Are you thinking of the older, Persia issues, or more-recent issues? The 19th-century bicolors that share the coat of arms with the early postage stamps are really neat.

I see Eric Jackson has the 2003 edition of Baharaeen & Brooks for $78. (Several in stock.) I don't know what improvements went into the 2006 edition.

cjd,

Thanks for responding. I did see that Eric Jackson has the 1st edition available. I looked into what improvements were made between the 1st and 2nd editions and it looks like about 110 pages were added to the 2nd edition, which included more detailed descriptions and roughly 600 additional stamp images. From what I hear there will not be a 3rd edition, so at this point I'm unsure whether to pay more to get the latest and greatest or settle for the 1st edition. All this under the assumption that maybe there were no other books published on the "Revenues of Iran." I was looking around to see if there was a Barefoot Catalog, but it doesn't look like there is one out there.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I haven't seen another comprehensive resource on Iranian/Persian revenues.

110 pages and 600 images added makes for a tough choice. Whichever way you go, let us know how it looks when it arrives.
