Just added these to my collection, strictly for the design. Can anyone give me some info about them? They must be revenues, but are they related to transportation?

The heading across the tops of the stamps simply says '... Duty Stamp', so I'd guess these are just general revenues.

Interesting thread

It would appear that they have used the same engraved die cast from the regular postage stamp for part of the revenue design (?)

So it appears they are some sort of tax for transportation? I'll ad that the ad I bought the stamps through said their date was 1947. It really didn't say much else. There appears to have been a book written just on these stamps.
