Stopped in a few weeks ago and was told by someone from a neighboring shop that Spence had passed away. Have tried to find verification; maybe someone here can. I used to go about once a month (haven't in some time). Really enjoyed the auctions; lots of good stuff.

BubbALuigi - Thank you for that. Did you verify Spence had passed & who is running?

Yes, I live in the Bay Area - I'm assuming this is in California? But I can't find any "Stamp Dxn" to pick up a street address or a phone number.

(For some reason the phrase itself is prohibited for me to post; I am searching on den.)

Also from google. The Stamp Gallery, 2678 N Main St, Walnut Creek, CA. Lots of comments about Spence so assume it is same place.

Yes: It is named; The Stamp Gallery with address as listed above.

Yes, Merle E. Spencer, founder, owner and manager of The Stamp Gallery is dead. He was just over 80.

Edit: to add age.
