Louise Dorothea Schroeder (1887-1957) was a German Social Democratic politician who served as deputy mayor of West Berlin from 1948 to 1951. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Schroeder and depicting the City of Berlin's coat of arms, designed by Rudolf Gerhardt, engraved by Egon Falz (1932-2010), and issued by Germany (West Berlin) on June 3, 1961, Scott No. 9N192, Michel No. 198, plus an image of a photograph of Louise Schroeder.

Happy Birthday to Maria Montessori (1870-1952), an Italian physician and educator best known for the philosophy of education that bears her name. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Dr. Montessori, printed by photogravure, and issued by India on August 31, 1970 to commemorate the educator's birth centenary and to publicize International Education Year, Scott No. 519, plus an image of the photograph of Maria Montessori which was a model for this stamp's design.

Here is an image of a stamp honoring María Parado de Bellido (1761-1822), a woman of the indigenous Quechua people, and a heroine and martyr of Peruvian independence, printed by lithography, and issued by Peru on September 8, 1975 as one of a set of four stamps commemorating International Women's Year, Scott No. 625, plus an image of a detail from a painted portrait of María Parado de Bellido.

Beatriz Galindo La Latina (Salamanca 1465- Madrid 1535)

Beatriz Galindo would happen to history with the nickname of " Latina " and the first Spanish teacher, which it has knowledge.

His parents decided that Beatriz had to learn Latin, as it was the official language of the time and all the educated people of the time spoke Latin . Beatriz showed great facility for Latin , so that his fame was spreading throughout the kingdom and was known by the nickname of " Latina ." At 16 year old she became an expert in classical texts .It is thought that one of the teachers of Latina was Antonio de Lebrija , what has happened to history for being the first author of the Spanish grammar .
She was a teacher of Latin of the children of queen Isabella I.
In Madrid a neighborhood called "La Latina"

Heroine of the War of Spanish independence.
She fought for Los Sitios de Zaragoza and she shot a cannon
Zaragoza were coming Spanish regular troops to take refuge and to defend the French attack . Event would happen to history as the Sites of Zaragoza. (Los sitios de Zaragoza)

Here is an image of a stamp honoring Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919), a Marxist theorist, philosopher, economist, anti-war activist, and revolutionary socialist of Polish-Jewish descent who became a naturalized German citizen, designed by Bruno Petersen and Kurt Eigler, printed by photogravure, and issued by East Germany (DDR) on June 20, 1955, Scott No. 250, Michel No. 478, plus an image of a photographic portrait of Rosa Luxemburg which may have been a model for this stamp's design.

Germany and Egypt have issued numerous stamps dedicated to the bust of Nefertiti, which is in the Berlin Museum which was held in Egypt. Germany has issued the bust from 1987 to 2004. In addition in 2013 it has issued a set devoted to Nefertiti and the Ishtar Gate.

Nefertiti, which means "the beautiful one has come" was the Great Royal Wife of Akhenaten and played an important role in the Court of Amarna, the new capital founded by Akhenaten in honor of the sun disk Aten.

A famous actress ... and an even more famous stamp.
The "Wohlfahrtsmarke Audrey Hepburn" Germany / 2001

The story behind it - the German Post wanted to issue a series of actor stamps in 2001.
Everything was ready to go, but then Hepburn's relatives forbid to show her mother with a cigarette - because she had died from lung cancer.

The only problem was - some sheets of those stamps were already sent out to the post minstry ... and someone just used a few stamps without knowing, they should have been destroyed.

So a German collector found the first one in 2004 in a plastic bag full of stamps, it was proved original from the postal authorities, an he sold it for 53.000 Euros in the end.

You maybe should check your 2001 German stamps for this treasure

Here is an image of a stamp honoring Clara Campoamor (1888-1972), a Spanish politician and feminist best known for her advocacy for women's rights and suffrage during the writing of the Spanish constitution of 1931, printed by photogravure, and issued by Spain on February 12, 1988 to commemorate the suffragette's birth centenary, plus an image of a photograph of Clara Campoamor.

Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Dorottya Kanizsai (1490-1532), a Hungarian noblewoman and benefactress to the poor, designed by György Konecsni (1908-1970), printed by photogravure, and issued by Hungary on August 1, 1944, Scott No. 628, plus an image of a bronze bust of Dorottya Kanizsai on display in Siklós Castle museum.
