The heavy button and stronger lines elsewhere in the design result from using a five or ten subject experimental transfer roll. The toga button was not recut. Apparently, the additional pressure required to enter the design accounted for the mostly strong impressions. Two entries on plate 10208 were reentered with a type I transfer roller making it possible to find type I/Ia pairs. One of the 499 entries exists as a plate single or in a plate block consisting of 4 type Ia and 2 type I stamps.
