Halloween Is On Its Way!

And for you Aussies. I don't see halloween like that at all. When my kid s were younger and still at home we would spend a week carving pumpkins of all sorts. My son even managed a guitar once. We lined them up the driveway on halloween night put on some spooky music. The yard was decorated in graveyards, huge spiders, witches that ran into telephone poles etc... I would dress up in something goofy to hand out treats. The kids would go out for an hour or so and come back to party at home. The other good thing about it is that the kids would carry around unicef boxed to collect money for charity. They all politely asked for money to help others I thought that was pretty cool.

Anyhow people would come from far and wide to see our display and have some blood punch and treats. It was kind of like a big block party.

Heck yes it's a lot of fun. Yea for baskets on Easter, stockings on Christmas, chocolate for Valentines and cakes not only for your name but birthdays and graduations! weddings! and every other possible occasion! I'm telling you what>>we are going there..not just FREE candy but bobbing around with HOMEMADE candied apples stretching taffy cracking brittle..and you know what comes next>>Thanksgiving and Pumpkin Pi

The happyHallow man kind of reminds me of the costume styles of Day of the Dead and MardiGras..they have big heads. Day of the Head, I mean Dead, is very big in Mexico on Nov 1st.

I was going to scan my French halloween sheetlet..but then I see I did that THREE YEARS ago !! Gussy used to come up with some good topics to keep us hopping !!

Not all Australians feel as Steve & Harry do. I love Halloween. My kids have been trick or treating (in costume) for years, and I fully decorate the house. I'm working on tomb stones & some other props & from next year plan to do a full front yard display. We also usually have a Halloween party for my teen daughter.

Halloween has been growing in popularity over here, with more stores starting to carry decorations etc, and last year saw the introduction of Halloween pumpkins into local supermarkets (they had been hard to get prior to that.) Although they're still pretty expensive at around $25 each (cheaper than last year.)
